Carbon Footprint
A carbon footprint is a "measure of the impact human activities have on the environment in terms of the amount of green house gases produced, measured in units of carbon dioxide". It is meant to be useful for individuals, organizations and companies to conceptualize their impact in contributing to global warming. All energy consumption results in carbon dioxide emissions at some point in the process. The United States produces 20.4 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions per capita per year.
Sustainability will depend upon our ability to limit carbon dioxide emissions. Successful implementation of Energy Conservation Measures automatically reduces an organization's carbon footprint.
